A city with 13 million people, paralyzed.

Yes, as you can all guess, i am refering to Tokyo.
I`m sure all of you, my readers are aware of the catastrophy that struck Japan today (swedish morning time).
Tokyo was shaken by a 8,9 earthquake, this is the largest earthquake that has occured in japan for over a 100 years.
Citizens were shocked by the intensity of the earthquake and by the long lasting shake and multiple after shakes.

One hour after the earthquake a helicopter hovering above the coastal area of Miyagi prefecture could witness the tsunami sweep in.
The tsunami was measured to the hight of about 10 meters, and like a horrible arm, it tore houses from the ground, bringing mud, debree, houses and burning objects along in its way of destruction.
People trying to evacuate, got stuck in the middle of the tsunami as it took hold of cars, pulling them into the water.

The tsunami is/was of great magnitude and is said to affect around 50 countries, and the casualties are still uncertain.

What i heard from my Japanese teacher Rieko-sensei is that in main tokyo things are okay, people are shocked, but still rather calm. People are gathered in the streets, due to the danger it poses to be inside buildings at this time.
One of the largest cities in the world, with about 13 million people, is paralyzed.
No trains, no busses, no airplanes, and basically you cannot get around with a car at the time being.
